Currently Asst. Prof. Dr. Warisa Wisittipanich and Asst. Prof. Dr. Poti Chaopaisarn are conducting research at the University of Leoben in the course their secondments within the SME 4.0 project. We are looking forward to further research output in the area of Smart Logistics.

On Thursday, December 13th 2018, Asst. Prof. Dr. Poti Chaopaisarn was invited by the Chair of Industrial Logistics to give a guest lecture in the industrial logistics bachelor program module “New Application Areas for Logistics Research”. Thereby, Asst. Prof. Dr. Poti Chaopaisarn focused on the problem of the idea generation process within logistics management research and his most recent publication which is based on the SMART Supply Chain Management (SSCM) Implementation Model.

On Thursday, December 13th 2018, Asst. Prof. Dr. Warisa Wisittipanich was invited by the Chair of Industrial Logistics to give a guest lecture in the industrial logistics master program module “Transport Logistics”. Thereby, Asst. Prof. Dr. Warisa Wisittipanich presented her latest research on truck scheduling problems in cross docking and advanced vehicle routing problems.

On Thursday, December 6th 2018, Asst. Prof. Dr. Warisa Wisittipanich was invited by the Chair of Industrial Logistics to holt a speech on her current research topics in industrial engineering. Thereby, Dr. Wisittipanich focused on optimization in production (scheduling) and logistics (warehousing, crane scheduling, network/distribution problems, and vehicle routing problems).

A few days ago, the research period of the doctoral student Luca Gualtieri ended who was visiting for 1 month the "Excellence Center in Logistics and Supply Chain Management Laboratory" of the Industrial Engineering faculty of Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand. In the photo the second international workshop on logistics and industry 4.0 "PostgradXchange", in which the doctorates of the host group and Luca Gualtieri discussed about their research exposing their works. In addition Dr. Erwin Rauch and Luca Gualtieri visited together with Dr. Korrakot Tippayawong and Dr. Sakgasem Ramingwong the Northern Science Park which will be the location for the Annual Meeting in 2019 in Chiang Mai.

Early stay researcher Robert Poklemba from Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia starts his secondment in SACS Engineering College in Madurai, India. He already had interactive lesson with students of SACS Engineering College . During the lesson he presented recent events and future plans about project research. He also visited few local companies, where he could talk with managers about readiness and opportunities of industries how to become smart rentabile industry.

Omar Bottesi, research assistant, and Luca Gualtieri, PhD student from the Free University of Bolzano spent a month at the "Excellence Center in Logistics and Supply Chain Management Laboratory" where they had the opportunity to share ideas, moments of discussion, to do research and learn new techniques. They had the opportunity to participate in the open day of the department of mechanical engineering on 5-8 November and to visit the "Motion and Control Laboratory" of Professor Theeraphong Wongratanaphisan. In the pictures, part of the group of the "Excellence Center in Logistics and Supply Chain Management Laboratory" and Dr. Omar Bottesi, who presented his research. In the other image, a moment of discussion of researchers and PhD students at the Department of Mechanics who built a robot for collecting mango from the tree.

On  the 22nd October 2018   Dr. Sakgasem Ramingwong  from Universitiy of  Chiang Mai  (Thailand) and Prof. Sudharaka Pandian from SACS MAVMM Engineering  college (India) and Mr. Robert Poklemba, PhD Student of Techincal University of Kosice visited our partnered comapany  Elcom situated in Presov , Slovakia. The purpose of the visit is to share knowledge about how to implement Smart manufacturing in SMEs in European region and compare the situation with that of other countries like Thailand, India. There was a discussion with Mr. Karafa and Mr. Lapoš of ELCOM about the merits and demerits of implementing smart manufacturing is SMEs. Mr. Karafa explained the things how to overcome the demrits during implementation. The visit and discussion were really useful for our future collaboration in implementing of smart elements into Indsutries across the world.

From 9-12 October 2018 the 12th International Conference on Axiomatic Design (ICAD 2018) took place in Reykjavik (Iceland). Every year, experts in Axiomatic Design meet at the conference to exchange their knowledge about design and complexity. This year, a delegation from the SME 4.0 project took part at the ICAD and presented several papers. In addition, the conference offered the opportunity to exchange information on the content and upcoming activities of the research project in the form of workshops. The participants from the SME 4.0 team were Prof. Chris Brown (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), Prof. Vladimir Modrak (Technical University of Kosice), Dr. Erwin Rauch (Free University of Bolzano) and phd-student Luca Gualtieri (Free University of Bolzano).
